" Ο λόγος που σας γράφω δεν είναι ο κ. Βαρουφάκης" αναφέρει κάνοντας μια αναδρομή και στο έργο του πατέρα του Galbraith, τις σημαντικές αναλύσεις για το πώς η Αμερική θα μπορούσε να γίνει ένα καλύτερο μέρος για τους ανθρώπους, για την καθιέρωση των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων, αλλά και των πολιτικών, την οικονομική ελευθερία και την ευημερία , πάνω από τον αναπόφευκτο έλεγχο των μονοπωλίων.
Θυμίζει την φιλία του πατέρα του με τον Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου και κάνει μια αναδρομή στην προσφορά του στην Ελλάδα της μεταπολίτευσης.
Εξηγεί ότι η "εποχή του Παπανδρέου ήταν μια όαση δημοκρατίας . Μια θάλασσα της ελπίδας . Ένα ρεύμα ενέργειας προς την εξέλιξη . Αυτός ακριβώς είναι ο ορισμός των μεταρρυθμίσεων και της καινοτομίας . Από την αλλαγή . Για να δημιουργηθεί η πεποίθηση ότι το μέλλον θα είναι ένα καλύτερο μέρος για να παλέψει κανείς".
"Αυτό που έχουμε σήμερα στην Ελλάδα , στο πρόσωπο του κ. Τσίπρα , δεν είναι τίποτα από τα παραπάνω" λέει και επιχειρηματολογεί ανάμεσα σε άλλα, ότι "ο Τσίπρας πραγματικά μισεί, την ιδέα της μεταρρύθμισης του ελληνικού κράτους".
"Ο κ. Τσίπρας αντιπροσωπεύει μια εποχή πολιτικής υποκρισίας , μια σκοτεινή περίοδο της ψευδούς οικονομική ανάπτυξη με ξένα χρήματα της ΕΕ , μια εποχή που η Ελλάδα ζούσε πάνω από τις δυνατότητές της σε όλους τους τομείς της δημόσιας ζωής."

Παράλληλα επισυνάπτει στον Galbraith ένα άρθρο που γράφτηκε σε εφημερίδα της Ελληνικής Διασποράς και αναφέρεται στον Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου, ως οικονομολόγο, ενώ τον προτρέπει να προσπαθήσει να βρει αναφορές για τον Τσίπρα. "Δεν θα βρείτε καμία" υποστηρίζει και σχολιάζει ότι ο Τσίπρας μιλάει ελάχιστα αγγλικά για να είναι αποδεκτό επίπεδο αρχηγού κόμματος μιας σύγχρονης ευρωπαϊκής χώρας.
Επίσης, σχολιάζει το γεγονός ότι κάποιοι Έλληνες πιστεύουν ότι ο Τσίπρας θα ενσαρκώσει το πνεύμα του Παπανδρέου για να οδηγήσει τη χώρα στο δρόμο της οικονομικής ανάπτυξης και να ξεπεράσει την κρίση και καλεί τον Galbraith να μη κάνει το ίδιο λάθος.
"Τι πρέπει να κάνουμε, να μιλάμε. Να λέμε την αλήθεια. Κάντε τους ανθρώπους να καταλαβαίνουν. Έρχεται κάποια ώρα που η σιωπή είναι προδοσία . Αλλά χειρότερο από την προδοσία είναι να οικοδομήσουμε ψεύτικες ελπίδες. Θα σας αφήσω να επιλέξετε με ποιο μέρος της ιστορίας ταιριάζει ο Τσίπρας.

"Dear mr Galbraith,
I have recently read your interview given to the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung
An interview mentioned to the web site of mr Varoufakis, an expatriate Greek Economist who regularly writes articles and gives speeches regarding our world wide famous Greek crisis
But the reason I write to you is not mr Varoufakis.
I still remember reading your father’s essays, The Affluent Society and other important post war analyses on how America could become a better place for the people. How our beloved democracy could manage to establish human rights, civic rights, economic freedom and prosperity, over the inevitable monopoly controls, that a bunch of few powerful “entrepreneurs” could exercise above people’s will.
One of your father’s estimated friends was Andreas Papandreou, who in later times was elected prime minister of Greece, but this is a story you have already heard and possibly studied during your professional career as an economist.
What you may not know, is the evident impact, that Papandreou’s policies had in my country’s political fate and economy during the post-Junta era (from 1974 to 1989), in our everyday life, our well being, our hopes to improve and to achieve further growth, similar to more mature economies of the developed Europe.
Papandreou’s era was an oasis of democracy. A sea of hope. A stream of energy towards evolution. That is exactly the definition of reforms and innovation. Of change. To create the belief that the future is a brighter place to fight for.
What you have today in Greece, in the face of mr Tsipras, is nothing of the above. Mr Tsipras and his party SYRIZA are supposed to be heir of Andreas and his party PASOK. Nothing could be more false than this. And I am concerned from the fact that mr Varoufakis supports this argument.
You see, what Tsipras really hates, is the idea to reform the Greek state, to innovate our state-dependent economy, to speak the truth to the Greek people about his leftish ideas in the threshold of the 21st century, and what he hates most is to frankly assume that his family made a huge profit out of construction contracts “a la carte” in the period of the Junta. Yes, during the period, when your father convinced president Johnson and the CIA, not to execute Andreas Papandreou who was then exiled from Greece.
Mr Tsipras represents an era of political hypocrisy, a dark period of false economic growth with foreign EU money, a time when Greece lived above its capacities in every sector of the public life. Mr Tsipras says no to change. Mr Tsipras will, is to take back every difficult step that has been made through austerity, in the direction of the progress and evolution of our country. Mr Tsipras wants our country to be state dependent, our economy to be bound by the decisions of few bureaucrats and fewer “entrepreneurs” as long as his party SYRIZA continuous to be funded by the bankrupted financial sector. Mr Tsipras represents the past.
Please allow me to enclose an article written to the Journal of the Greek Diaspora, a long time ago. It refers to Andreas Papandreou, as Economist. Please have a look at it. Then try to find mr Tsipras references. You will not find any. Mr Tsipras hardly speaks English in an acceptable level, for a contemporary European country party leader. It is as same.
It is a same, that some of the Greek people believe that Tsipras will incarnate Papandreou’s spirit to lead my country to the path of economic development and to override the crisis.
Please do not make the same mistake. What is left from PASOK’s revolution, are the grim faces of his voters, some of them poor, some of them searching the street dustbins for food, some of them unable to find any opportunity to dream a better future.
What we must do, is speak. Speak the truth. Make the people understand. A time comes when silence is a betrayal. But worse to silence is to build false hope .I let you choose which part of the story fits Tsipras.
